This Dude Has a Sneaker Problem
Dudes, I’ve got a problem.
I’m a sneakerhead.
Have been since the Jordan 3’s dropped.
And here I am at 45… still buying shoes like I’ve got somewhere important to be.
I don’t.
But I’m still buying them.
It Starts with That First Pair
You remember it. The pair that made you feel like you had something.
Shoes weren’t just shoes. They were identity.
And once that hits, it never really leaves.
Then It Becomes the Hunt
It’s not even about wearing them. It’s about getting them.
The drop. The release. The “did you hit or not?”
You either got them or you didn’t. And when you did, it felt like a win.
But Here’s the Real Question
At what age do you have to stop wearing Jordans?
I’ve got an answer. Thirt(ish)
The Rule
Once you’ve got a 3 in front of your age, the game changes.
You don’t stop being a sneakerhead.
You just evolve. Jordan 1 lows only. That’s it.
The rest of the Jordans?
Let the young guys have them.
The Rotation (If You Know, You Know)
You don’t fall off. You shift.
For me, it looks like:
OnCloud Rogers
Nike Field Generals (every color I can get my hands on)
New Balance 999s (always in the mix)
Air Max (steady rotation, especially with the recent collabs)
That’s the lane.
Still clean. Still current. Just not trying too hard.
The Dunk Situation
Dunks are still king right now. No question.
I respect it. I just don’t like them.
Never have. And I’m not about to start chasing something just because everyone else is.
That’s a different article.
But for now, remember, you don’t age out of sneakers. You age out of trying to wear what doesn’t fit you anymore.
There’s a difference.
