Oliver’s Questions

Turns out, our main source of inspiration for many articles is a pint-sized, 10-year-old dude (my son) who thinks he's got all the answers, forcing me into a constant state of fact-checking.
can we fish for alaskan salmon in Kentucky dad?
Kentucky Dude Original, 1-minute read
I watched my 10-year-old catch his first Alaskan salmon last week, and somewhere on the flight home he asked me a question I wasn't expecting: "Dad... can we catch those in Kentucky?" The answer surprised both of us, because while the fish may be different, the feeling isn't.
was newport, ky really run by the mob?
Kentucky Dude original, 1-minute read
My son asked me, "Dad... was Newport really run by the mob?" I thought it was just another exaggerated Kentucky legend, but a little digging uncovered a wild chapter of Newport, Kentucky’s past filled with casinos, gangsters, and secrets hiding in plain sight.
Man on the Move

Work Hard, Work Early, Work Wisely
Dudes, ever notice how some people seem to get more done with the same 24 hours? It’s not luck, it’s a head start they gave themselves.
On a farm, there are no days off. The cattle need feeding, no matter the weather. You wake up early, get to work, and don’t wait for someone else to do it.
That kind of work ethic sticks. My grandparents didn’t just farm, they fixed engines, welded, plumbed, and even delivered calves. Their hands were worn and weathered, but they never stopped. That’s where I learned what it really means to work hard, work early, and work wisely.
Here’s the Move: Fear is passive, confidence is active. If you focus on doing the right thing instead of avoiding the wrong thing, you break Murphy’s cycle. Prepare, stay decisive, and trust yourself because confidence repels failure.
Why bother? Because letting fear run your mind is the fastest way to lose control. Flip the mindset, take control, and Murphy’s Law won’t own you.
